Instructions
Marinate the fish with 1/4 tsp red chilli powder, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/8 tsp turmeric and 1/2 tbsp ginger garlic paste.
In a fry pan, heat 1 tsp oil and fry the fish slightly for 2-3 minutes on both sides. Keep it aside.
Now heat 1 tbsp oil in a pot and add cumin and onion. Saute until onions get light golden.
Add ginger garlic paste and saute for 30 seconds. Add 1/2 tsp salt and tomatoes and saute until tomatoes turn soft.
Now add red chilli powder, turmeric, coconut and fennel seeds (optional). Fry until the mixture turns fragrant.
Now put this mixture into a blender jar along with 2 tbsp water and blend into a smooth paste. Keep it aside.
For fish curry
Heat 1 tbsp oil on a low flame and add curry leaves and green chillies.
When they start spluttering, add the ground onion tomato paste and garam masala and fry until the mixture becomes aromatic.
Then pour 1 1/2 to 1 1/4 cups water into the mixture and bring it to a boil. Cook until the gravy thickens a little.
Gently put in the fish and cook covered on a medium heat.
Carefully flip the pieces to the other side after 3-4 minutes and cook until the fish bulges a bit. This signifies that they are fully cooked.
Delicious fish curry is ready! Serve it hot with chapati or rice.
