4 Reasons Your Diet is Not Working

You are doing every possible thing to meet your fitness goals. You are dieting, you are exercising, you are doing every single thing. Despite that, you’re aching to see real results. So why your diet is not working? This can be very frustrating, but while we spend enough time researching how to get it right, we are unaware of where we can go wrong. In this blog, we will cover those aspects.

  • You’re skipping meals

A lot of people presume that dieting is not about eating. When in fact, it is all about eating and eating right. Fitness is 70% diet and 30% exercise. Skipping meals will not help you shed calories. It will actually stress you more and you will land up stress-eating (consuming more food than normal) when you have your next meal.  Listen to your body’s innate signals. When it is hungry, eat until your full but don’t overeat.

  • You’re not getting enough sleep

When we are tired, we crave a lot of unhealthy food. The moment we look at a donut or a pizza, our mind instantly causes a frenzy within us. Out of stress and total lack of energy, we resort to not just eating it, but eating it in large quantities. Thus, people who are sleep-deprived have more secretions of cortisol hormone, which makes us feel more stressed. So, try getting at least 5-6 hours of sleep per night for a more healthy living.

  • Your Diet doesn’t provide enough fat content

The predominant belief that still persists is that fat in your food translates to fat in your body. This is not true. The number one side-effect of dieting is a fat deficiency. Not eating fats could cause issues like joint pain, dry skin etc due to lack of lubrication. So you will appear to have lost weight, but you would’ve just shrunk in reality. The other side-effect of fat deficiency is excessive water consumption, due to which your body could bloat as well. Ensure you switch your fat consumption to healthy fats.

  • You focus too much on calories

Energy balance is the key to weight loss. Calories are a measure of energy. There are some calories that cause weight gain, while there are some that make you fat. The ones that make you fat usually are sugar-based containing processed fat, which upsets your metabolism. Metabolism is a key aspect of maintaining a healthy diet. So, keep your calorie goal in mind and ensure you eat every meal, consume the right type of foods as recommended by your fitness expert.
